Sandy is no stranger to the local theatre scene having performed, directed, and written various shows over the past few decades. Being passionate about all aspects of theatre she firmly believes that through sharing our stories we all gain.

She is extremely impressed by the passion and commitment of the musical theatre community throughout the Wellington region and believes performers, musicians, technicians, and theatre practitioners deserve the opportunity to perform on the big stages at our major venues. Wellington audiences should be able to enjoy the big scale musicals that have been missing from the local landscape for many years.

In 2018 Sandy directed Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, and in 2019 First Date, which both won the Best Musical at the NZ Theatre Federation Awards. She also won the Overall Production of the Year in 2009 for I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.

Among other shows Sandy has directed are Ladies In Black, Rock of Ages, Voices From The Front, Disco Inferno, All Shook Up, Motor Camp, 12 Angry Jurors, to name a few. Sandy assistant directed the touring production of Tales of Hoffmann, and Evita at the Wellington Opera House, in 2015.

Sandy also co-wrote Yep, Still Got It with Jane Keller which debuted at Circa theatre in 2015.

Performance highlights have included, roles in Sylvia’s Wedding, A Great Face for Radio, Daisy Pulls It Off, Arsenic and Old Lace, Les Misérables, Oliver, Ladies in Black and Shortland Street the Musical.

With her strong commercial background, business owner, employed in senior roles with multinationals and SMEs, and having worked alongside local government she knows the value of planning, commercial sustainability, responsible governance, and effective partnerships.

Combing all these elements led Sandy to establish the Capital Theatre Trust.

Paul was raised in a classical musical family.  Paul’s father was one of the first members of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and played in the orchestra until his retirement.  Although Paul has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Band, and also performed with the NZSO, Paul choose a corporate career path instead.

Paul was a Global Partner with the international consulting firm Deloitte, and worked both internationally and locally as an advisor to Businesses and Governments on their IT strategies.  Upon retirement he has gone back to music, and in particular, musical theatre, as a member of various bands accompanying shows in the Wellington region.

He is currently a volunteer business mentor helping small and medium sized businesses survive these difficult trading times, a Director of a number of private Companies, and a Trustee of a number of Trusts including the Capital Theatre Trust.

In recent years, many great shows have ‘skipped’ New Zealand and especially Wellington.  Paul believes Wellington has the talent, skill and passion to produce these shows and is pleased to be a part of the establishment of the Capital Theatre Trust to make this happen.
