Youth Theatre Holiday Workshop

Join Capital Theatre Trust for 3 days of Musical Theatre magic for aspiring youth performers aged 7-13. Led by industry professionals Maya Handa Naff & Hayden Taylor (The Creative Team behind Mamma Mia 2025), and Hamish Mouat (Artistic Director of Encore Theatre Collective in Auckland).

Take a deep dive into learning Musical Theatre skills and material based around popular aquatic movie musicals. Focussed on enhancing confidence and theatrical skills in a fun and positive environment, these workshops are ideal for both newcomers and theatre veterans alike!

Sessions will include Dance, Drama and Singing each day.
Each day will involve morning warm-ups and games, followed by 7 x 45 min workshop sessions throughout the day.
Depending on enrolment numbers, students will be broken down into 2 or 3 groups based on age.
Capital Theatre Trust will provide morning and afternoon tea, but each child will bring their own lunch.

Workshops are from
 9am – 4pm each day.

Cost per participant $150.00

Aftercare supervision is available each day through to 5.15pm

The team

Maya is the director of Capital Theatre Trust's upcoming production of Mamma Mia. Her career as a director, performer, and teacher spans more than eighty productions across Off-Broadway, New York, US regional, and Aotearoa New Zealand stages.

Maya trained at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and the Stella Adler Studio in New York City. She runs a private studio teaching voice & acting: mayahandanaff.co.nz

Hamish is a leading practitioner in Educational and Youth Theatre across New Zealand. As the Artistic Director of Encore Theatre Collective and Kristin School in Auckland, as well as the International Staff Director for the Metropolitan Educational Theatre Network in Southern California, Hamish directs and/or choreographs close to 1500 young performers every year.

Hayden is a professional pianist and Musical Director who's been working in theatre and live performance across Aotearoa and the UK for the last 15 years. Whilst living in London, he worked on many productions as Musical Director, pianist, conductor, and arranger, and working as a dep. musician for various productions across London and the UK.
